Alpaca Walks in Cumbria
Selfie sticks at the ready! During one of our alpaca experiences, you will be swept away on a tour of the grounds of the renowned Fitz Countryhouse alongside our charming alpacas.
Not only are the grounds beautiful, they are bursting with unique history. The woodland holds the remnants of a significant Roman homestead and other areas of geophysical anomalies have been detected under ground. Only a few years ago, an archaeological dig occurred on the grounds, where the oldest coin in Cumbria was found, dating back to 200BC. Where else can you say you took a selfie with an alpaca on top of Roman archeology?!
As well as the chance to meet and walk the alpacas, other furry companions will be awaiting you at The Fitz. Spot the sheep and emus and feel like you are on a mini Cumbrian safari!
We offer alpaca walks every day of the week – simply give us a call to arrange your preferred time and we’ll take it from there.
Up to an hour’s walk with alpacas, and an opportunity to feed and learn about our furry friends.
Upon your arrival, you will be greeted at the stables at the bottom of the drive (to the right hand side of the gate) by your leader, Emma or Ricky. After an introductory welcome briefing, your alpaca walking experience on The Bluebell walk will begin and you will be led through the lush fields – past the friendly herds of sheep and emus. Venture into our private woodland and make your way to the fairy pond, before descending along the drive and back to your starting point.
We have bathroom facilities on site which customers are able to use.
We ask that you bring suitable shoes and clothing for your alpaca experience as you will be walking through fields and woodlands.
We have planned our walks to suit a wide variety of people, but please be aware that there is a moderately steep incline as well as muddy and uneven ground in parts. For those reasons, we cannot authorise wheelchairs, pushchairs or walking aids on the walks.
